Standard Chartered Bank has agreed to move services to the cloud in a five-year deal with Amazon Web Services.
In Brief:
-
Its strategic banking systems and customer-facing applications in 60 markets will now run on AWS.
-
AWS already powers the Nexus BaaS unit and MOX, StanChart’s virtual bank in Hong Kong.
-
The bank’s core banking system already operates in the cloud.
What does this mean?
This marks an extension of Standard Chartered’s already strong relationship with AWS. The bank says that moving its business to the cloud allows it to be more responsive to customers and to create new applications more quickly.
