For women in any male dominated industry, it is important to have role models to look up to – but these are not always easy to find. And while networking events work with varying levels of success, remote working has presented its own challenges in meeting new people and finding a mentor.
We are very fortunate in the FinTech industry to have a number of women role models who are not only experts in their field and successful leaders, but are also happy to share their wisdom, support other women, and push the inclusivity conversation.
If you are looking for some inspiration, here are some useful women in FinTech to follow.
Up until recently Shefali Roy was COO and CCO at FinTech Truelayer. Now, she is working on various projects in an advisory capacity including an initiative to teach young people coding – and has given a fascinating Tedx talk on ethics.
In our recent Shaping FinTech webinar, Roy discussed how FinTechs can build in gender diversity from the ground up. Watch it here.

Neha Mehta is Founder of FemTech partners, a consultancy that aims to position financial services to meet the needs of women and those who are financially excluded. She is also working with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to support FinTech delivery across emerging markets in Asia.
Mehta is a passionate speaker about diversity and inclusion in FinTech, and earlier this year she took part in our virtual mentoring series with some great advice on career development.
She’s also active on Twitter @NehaaMehtaa
As Head of Banks at Flux, Roisin Levine is instrumental in managing the digital receipt FinTech’s relationship with brands like Monzo, Starling and Barclays – so is an excellent source of knowledge on partnerships between banks and FinTechs.
Levine was also named a Women in FinTech Rising Star by Innovate Finance and a 2020 Women in Finance Young Leader of the Year. In our Shaping FinTech investment panel she discussed why the environment needs to be inclusive, as well as offering useful advice for FinTechs looking to scale. Watch it here.
Levine can be found on Twitter @RoisinLevine where she keeps followers up to date on Flux developments as well as other FinTech issues.
Melanie Palmer is Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Nucoro, which enables financial institutions to implement savings and investment products for their customers.
It’s no surprise that Palmer is a strong advocate for helping people make their money work harder whether through finding the right savings solution or trying their hand at investing – especially for women who are less likely to take risks. She is very vocal about this on Twitter @Melpalmer28.
You can also hear Melanie’s insights into consumer investing in one of our Shaping FinTech webinars – watch it here.
Olivia Minnock is our Editor here at FinTech Alliance. She manages the content on our site, helps the community promote themselves and learn more about the industry, and runs our daily and weekly newsletters.
Minnock also runs our Shaping FinTech webinar series, where she often poses questions around diversity in the workplace as well as building products for an inclusive society. You can recap our previous webinars here as we look froward to the next series.
Having also been featured on the Fintech Files podcast about the impact of FinTech on representation and inclusion, she’s also on the steering committee for the FinTech For All charter and is vocal on social media about financial inclusion, education and diversity in the workplace. She tweets at @oliviaminnock.
