Atom Bank moves to four-day working week – without pay cuts

FinTech Atom Bank has announced its employees will now work four days per week with the same salary as before.

In Brief:

Atom Bank says this will give staff “greater flexibility” to reflect the changing world of work.

Employees can either take Monday or Friday as a day off.

Some people will have to work one of these days and organise teams so that the business can run uninterrupted.

What does this mean?

The move follows the impact of the global pandemic showing that staff are capable of working flexibly, and prompting many employees to ask to be evaluated based on business outcomes and productivity, rather than working traditional hours.

CEO Mark Mullen says the move is part of the “next evolution” of work. “We firmly believe this will prove beneficial for our employees’ wellbeing and happiness and that it will have an equally positive impact on business productivity and customer experiences,” he adds.
