FinTech challenger Starling Bank has announced it will open its fourth UK office in 2023.
In Brief:
The office, located in Manchester, is due to open in H1 next year.
It will employ people in roles across operations, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity and customer service.
This year, Starling’s employee count has already increased by 20%.
What does this mean?
It's a bold (and welcome) announcement from Starling at a time when so many other FinTech companies are cutting back on hiring and announcing redundancies. The expansion appears to be on good foundations since Starling announced this July it’s had a full year of profitability – making £32.1mn pre-tax. However, the bank has not been unaffected by the current climate, having been forced to rethink plans about a new subsidiary in Ireland.
