Wirex raises £3.7mn on Crowdcube  

Cryptocurrency based payments FinTech Wirex has raised £3.7mn in a crowdfunding campaign.  

In Brief:  

• It raised its initial target of £1mn in just 90 minutes.  

• Nearly 7000 investors were involved.  

• Wirex offers a contactless card allowing users to spend both crypto and fiat currencies.  

What does this mean?  

Wirex is planning to launch a multicurrency card with Mastercard and will also be expanding into the US and Japan thanks to the new funding.
