Global payments giant Visa announced on Earth Day that it’s deepening its commitment to reach net zero emissions.
In Brief:
It aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2040.
It announced it reached “carbon neutrality” across its operations in 2020.
Visa has now signed The Climate Pledge, which was co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism.
What does this mean?
Visa took the opportunity to announce many plans and partnerships this week to reduce its impact on the environment. It plans to become a “climate positive company”, supporting sustainable commerce and the transition to a low-carbon economy – not just focusing on its own emissions.
As well as The Climate Pledge, Visa is a new member of the Climate Business Network by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
