Russian bank VTB and global payments giant Visa are testing tech to let customers “pay by glance”.
In Brief:
The pair are working with local FinTech O.Vision.
They are testing the method at KiO Kitech restaurants.
Customers can save their facial biometrics to an app and link it to a payment card.
What does this mean?
So far, more than a million people’s identities are on the biometric database O.Vision’s product is being tested on, and it can reportedly make a payment decision in one second. O.Vision was part of VTB’s corporate accelerator, so it had support to develop the product and is now being supported in the testing process.
