Cross-border payments business TransferWise has rebranded to reflect its business expanding beyond money transfers.
In Brief:
TransferWise was launched as a money transfer service in 2011.
Now, it is rebranding with the mission to “make international banking cheaper, faster and more pleasant”.
The company currently has 10mn personal and business customers.
What does this mean?
The rebrand encompasses Wise’s offering expanding to a wider range of banking services which fit into categories:
Wise – an international account to hold and spend 55 currencies.
Wise Business – “the business account for going global” which includes bank feeds, mass payouts and multi-user access.
Wise Platform – a platform for banks and FinTechs to use Wise’s infrastructure.
CEO and Co-Founder of Wise Kristo Käärmann commented: “Today our name catches up with who we’re already building for – a community of people and businesses with multi-currency lives.”
