UK challenger bank Starling is set to open a new office in Southampton.
In Brief:
-
The office will hold 150 people, including 50 software engineers and 100 customer service staff, with the majority to be new hires.
-
Starling now has about 500,000 current account holders and 30,000 business customers.
-
CEO Anne Boden said the company is “rapidly running out of space” in its current London office.
What does this mean?
Even a branchless bank needs countless customer service staff, whether that’s through live chat or over the phone. Much like Revolut, which is hiring 400 new people in Portugal, Starling has realised operational resources must match the customer base no matter how quickly it grows.
