Standard Chartered Bank has partnered with the University of Hong Kong to launch a Fintech Academy.
In Brief:
-
The bank is putting HK$60mn into the academy.
-
It is designed to conduct “cutting edge” research and develop FinTech talent.
-
The academy will offer a Batchelor’s and eventually Master’s in Financial Technology.
What does this mean?
Over the next five years the academy will cater to nearly 1000 people, equipping them with skills and knowledge around financial technology. Though offering a Batchelor’s, it appears to focus on those who have already begun their careers, stating it aims to “upskill” those in financial services. The academy will examine disruptive technologies and hopes to have a “lasting impact” on banking.
