Shieldpay, StarStock help turn pubs into community stores amid Covid-19

Shieldpay is powering the payments for a new national initiative to support pubs.

In Brief:

  • Pubs are now able to trade as food shops and offer click and collect services.

  • This comes over a week after the government announced all pubs must close, before placing the country under lockdown.

  • StarStock’s mypubshop.com allows pubs to take and process orders online.

What does this mean?

The aim is to keep pubs afloat at this challenging time while providing the community with essentials like bread, eggs and milk. Pubs can host a web shop and add items to their inventory. People can pay through Shieldpay, a fast and secure solution which is important to help cashflow at this challenging time.

Tom Squire, Group Commercial Director at Shieldpay, said: “It’s been almost two weeks since pubs across the UK were ordered to close in extraordinary measures, and that is two weeks too long for businesses with limited cashflow to survive. This initiative not only provides support in the local community, but also allows thousands of local suppliers to get involved and we are proud to provide the service that allows everyone to get back into business and be paid on time.”
