Scotland’s FinTech cluster has won an award as a centre of excellence.
The European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) has carried out a benchmarking analysis of the cluster developed by FinTech Scotland.
Scotland has gained a bronze label from the body and is the third country in Europe to ne recognised in this way.
The body benchmarks more than 1,000 economic clusters across 46 nations.
What does this mean?
The ESCA’s accreditation was based on 36 economic indicators, with Scotland recognised for factors like services offered, interaction and collaboration. FinTech Scotland CEO Stephen Ingledew commented: “Achieving cluster bronze level recognises the progressive innovation, collaboration and inclusion initiatives across Scotland for the past two years.” He added the accreditation will help Scotland on its journey to become a major global FinTech centre.
