Monzo has introduced personalised payment cards for its customers in the USA.
In Brief:
-
Users are still using “beta” testing cards but can now have their name added.
-
All details are now on the back of the card.
-
The cards also support people’s preferred names as opposed to legal names, a benefit for transgender and non-binary customers.
What does this mean?
Having card details on the back of the card might mean users will be able to show them off on social media more easily – a key aspect of marketing for challenger banks. Indeed, Monzo has stated the new design features an “even hotter” shade of its signature coral colour.
“The colour is so bright that employees at our card production factory wear tinted glasses during their production,” it claims in its blog. That’s certainly one way to get noticed in a new market.
