Mondu Secures EMI License for Further Expansion Across Europe

Mondu Financial Services BV (Mondu BV), a prominent B2B fintech company, has been granted an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) License by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), the central bank of the Netherlands. This pivotal license, which can be passported across the European Union, positions Mondu for rapid geographic expansion and the introduction of innovative payment solutions across several new markets.

With this license, Mondu aims to significantly enhance its service offerings, including the launch of additional payment products like eWallets and credit cards. This development follows substantial growth in Mondu’s processing volumes and an increase in its client base, with notable new customers across the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK such as BTN de Haas BV, Profipack, Autodoc, WirMachenDruck, and Kingspan.

Founded in June 2022 and headquartered in Amsterdam, Mondu BV will now be able to offer regulated payment services both within the Netherlands and on a cross-border basis throughout Europe. The company’s management board includes Eric Weijman, Chief Risk Officer, and Stefano Arcari, Commercial Director.

Philipp Povel, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Mondu, emphasized the significance of the EMI license, marking Mondu as the first B2B Buy Now, Pay Later company in Europe to achieve this milestone. He highlighted that the license reflects the maturity and sophistication of Mondu’s platform and processes, bringing the company closer to its goal of establishing the leading B2B payment platform in Europe.

Miyu Lee, Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and Supervisory Board Member of Mondu BV, noted that the license not only facilitates European expansion but also ensures Mondu operates within a secure and compliant regulatory framework, allowing the company to develop and launch a range of complementary solutions for merchants and business buyers.

Currently, Mondu’s services are available to businesses in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, and France, working with top-tier retailers, wholesalers, and B2B marketplaces in these regions.
