A £3mn tender is available for to help HMRC introduce open banking.

The tender is for the provision of an Open Banking-based Payment Initiation and Account Information Service.

This will make it easier for taxpayers to submit payments from their bank accounts.

At present a credit or debit card must be used.
What does this mean?
Once HMRC begins using the solution it will be a milestone for Open Banking uptake within the UK, as it shows an example of how a customer’s life can be made easier.
Bidders can apply here and will need to be registered with the FCA as well as the Open Banking Implementation Entity.
