Danske Bank has announced it is phasing out its normal plastic cards to replace them with recycled plastic.
In Brief:
-
The new cards will be made with 86% recycled plastic.
-
They will be launched as a trial with the bank’s Pocket Money account.
-
This is aimed at children between eight and 14.
What does this mean?
Danske Bank hopes to replace all normal plastic cards, both Visa and Mastercard, following the trial period. The bank understands this is a drop in the ocean when it comes to climate change, but notes it is “a small step in the right direction” - the cards may well act as a symbol for bigger commitments to come.
