As part of the national Budget speech, the Chancellor announced that the UK contactless payment limit will rise to £100.
In Brief:
It will increase from £45 later this year.
This was already increased from £30 in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The cumulative limit is up to £300.
What does this mean?
Sunak says that the move will help “further support UK consumers and businesses during the Covid-19 response” and that it has been made possible since the UK’s exit of the European Union, which previously set the limit.
