Clearbanc has said it will invest £500mn in UK online startups over the next year.
In Brief:
-
Clearbank is a Canadian VC firm that specialises in ecommerce investment.
-
It wants to offer an alternative to VC – non-dilutive revenue-share agreements – for online businesses.
-
Offers will range between £10,000 and £10mn.
What does this mean?
Clearbank will use Apis to allow founders to connect revenue and marketing accounts and see their investment offers – it says this process helps avoid bias which usually sees male-founded firms offered eight times more investment from traditional VC firms.
