Barclays will host the ‘Barclays CBDC Hackathon 2022’ to explore the potential of CBDCs in the future of payments and promote new technologies in large banks
IN BRIEF:
Set to take place on 27th and 28th September, it will feature a series of coding challenges that simulate the use of CBDCs and commercial bank money.
The Hackathon will consist of teams of four developing coding solutions to set challenges, including connecting to Barclays simulation of central and commercial bank APIs
Participating teams will be challenged with a pre-event task to prove they have a sufficient knowledge of coding
What does this mean?
David Williams, banking and capital markets technology consulting at EY: ‘Carving out time to collaboratively explore important future topics such as CBDC, and in particular interoperability, is hugely important. It is through hands-on experimentation that the industry can best face into the real, practical challenges ahead.’
