Barclays’ mobile payments business, Pingit, has launched an online platform for the sale of wearable tech.
In Brief:
-
Customers will be able to access wearable gadgets to use for payments via Pingit.
-
Wearables can be used across a range of bank accounts.
-
The company will work with brands like Hugo Boss to improve its range of accessories.
What does this mean?
Around one in five adults currently wears a smartwatch or fitness band and the wearable technology market only stands to grow – Barclays has chosen to merge these technology pieces with its current payment app so customers don’t need to do anything to be able to pay via a bracelet, key fob or watch.
