Barclays launches accelerator to support Black founders

Barclays has launched a virtual accelerator programme to support tech startups founded by Black entrepreneurs.

In Brief:

  • It will focus on early-stage tech businesses.

  • The programme will last 12 weeks from 12 November.

  • It will include 25 companies, offering a series of masterclasses and professional coaching.

What does this mean?

Barclays has teamed up with Foundervine, a social enterprise, to power the accelerator. It will also offer access to its Eagle Labs network in the UK and community events to all participants. Barclays says there’s a notable lack of diversity among startups and their founders, especially when it comes to Black entrepreneurs.
