Amazon is set to launch its first physical store in the UK this week.
In Brief:
Amazon Go will launch a branch in Ealing this week.
It will then roll several stores out across the UK.
Amazon Go stores are fully cashless, detecting what customers buy and taking money from their Amazon account.
What does this mean?
Amazon has already established several cashless stores in the US. Users don’t need to scan items at a checkout, but can simply leave the store with their items, with sensors monitoring what they take and payment happening via a dedicated app. This will be especially beneficial not only with the popularity of cashless payments, but with as little contact as possible recommended amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
