Popular artist Akon will be the headline speaker at virtual crypto conference BlockDown2020.

In Brief:

  • He will use the chance to make an announcement about his cryptocurrency project, Akoin.

  • The conference will take place virtually on 16 April.

  • Akoin aims to boost financial inclusion in Africa.

What does this mean?

Akon has praised the potential for blockchain and cryptocurrency to allow the unbanked and underbanked to access and manage money. “Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology offer a more secure currency that enables poeple in Africa to advance themselves independent of the government,” he commented.
