Press Release: FinTech Alliance/DIT announce FinTech Investment Series

London, 29 January 2020 – FinTech Alliance announces its new investment series as part of a commitment to boosting FinTech investment in the UK, in partnership with the Department of International Trade.

The series will include a number of events enabling FinTechs to build relationships with potential investors and learn to build their pitch deck, culminating in a day of pitching to help investors decide which important projects to support.

Hundreds of FinTechs and investors are involved, with the series supporting FinTechs at every stage of their investment journey, from Seed to Series D and beyond.

The first event in the series, taking place on 5 March, will be hosted by Augmentum Fintech and will focus on “building your pitch deck”. The workshop will allow VCs, investors and sector experts help FinTechs build and refine their pitch decks ahead of the later pitch sessions.

“We are delighted to be hosting a FinTech pitch deck workshop in collaboration with FinTech Alliance and DIT as part of their 2020 Investment Series. As the UK’s only publicly listed venture capital fund investing purely in FinTech, we have seen thousands of pitch decks over the years and we look forward to sharing our insights into catching the attention of investors with ambitious founders preparing for their next fundraise,” said Tim Levene, Partner & CEO at Augmentum Fintech.

The second event, taking place on 9 March, will be hosted by Outward VC and will focus on Seed to Series A funding. “As early investors in UK FinTechs that have successfully scaled internationally, Outward has a deep understanding of the layers of support required by early stage FinTechs. We are excited to partner with FinTech Alliance and the UK Government on this vital series to support the next generation of global leaders in financial services,” said Devin Kohli, Co-Head of Outward VC.

The third event, hosted by Anthemis on 31 March, will focus on Series B and beyond. “We are delighted to partner with FinTech Alliance and the UK Government on this series. Founded in 2010, we have been at the centre of a vibrant ecosystem of startups and financial institutions dedicated to reinventing financial services for the digital world. We have chosen to collaborate on a series that will support startups and financial institutions by providing industry insights during their fundraising cycle,” said Gavin Holland, Partner at Anthemis.

The series will culminate in a final event on 22 April, International Day of UK FinTech Week, where all involved will come together for pitches, panels and one-to-one meetings. This will be followed by a VIP dinner with a senior government minister in the Houses of Parliament.

As the UK’s inaugural FinTech investment series bringing together key stakeholders from government and the private sector to support a vital part of the UK economy, this series is a great next step in the nation’s exciting journey and we are proud to be part of it alongside FinTech Alliance.

Companies interested in taking part will need to email info@fintech-alliance.com with the subject DIT/FTA Investor Series by 21 February. The FinTechs must be investment ready and will need to have a pitch deck ready by the deadline of 15 April.

The programme will be run through the FinTech Alliance investment platform. Powered by Delio, the platform connects and matches entrepreneurs from the FinTech ecosystem who are looking to raise capital to investors operating in the sector. Investors can use the platform to invest individually or co-invest in FinTechs at various stages of investment. The simple and fast process means FinTechs can move from sharing pitch decks to signing terms sheets in record time – all in one place.

During the course of the Event Series, participants will have free access to the full suite of services offered by FinTech Alliance.

The series reflects FinTech Alliance’s ongoing commitment to building relationships in the space, particularly between fast-growing, innovative FinTechs and established players looking for a fresh perspective.

Phil Vidler, CEO of FinTech Alliance, commented: “FinTech Alliance is committed to supporting the growth of the UK FinTech sector. As access to capital remains a prominent hurdle faced by FinTechs, we have launched our investment series in partnership with UK Government and industry leaders to address this challenge. We’re delighted to facilitate continued collaboration between government, investors and FinTechs, which is vital to ensure the UK remains the best place in the world to build and scale a FinTech.”

Graham Stuart MP, Minister for Investment, said: “The UK is home to the world’s highest concentration of financial and professional service firms and some of the most exciting tech firms; a combination which has made us the world-leader in FinTech. “The launch of this new investment series in partnership with the FinTech Alliance demonstrates the government’s commitment to making sure the UK continues to be the best place to start a FinTech firm. I very much look forward to watching our FinTech sector go from strength to strength.”
