London has come top in Z/Yen and Finance Watch’s global green index.
The city has retained the top spot for another year despite progress across Europe.
European cities took the top five places in the ranking.
London came top in ‘quality’ but Amsterdam was highest commended for ‘depth’.
What does this mean?
It’s positive news for London’s finance sector in showing how it can deliver on a higher social purpose – however, the report warned that as the UK doesn’t yet have a sovereign green bond, it could lose its ranking next year.
