John Glen, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, has said it’s vital to support UK FinTech.
In Brief:
The MP spoke at the City & Financial Global conference, City Week 2021: Financing a Sustainable Global Recovery.
He said the government will take forward several recommendations from the Kalifa Review, especially helping firms recruit the best possible talent.
Glen also mentioned the Hill review’s recommendations around making it easier for companies to list on the stock market here in the UK.
What does this mean?
Glen’s speech reiterated the Treasury’s prioritisation of FinTech when it comes to fuelling the economic recovery from Covid-19. “As a country with a globally leading FinTech industry,” he commented, “we will be missing a trick if we fail to build on our strengths in this area.”
