Square to focus on decentralised finance 

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s FinTech business Square is making a foray into decentralised finance (DeFi). 

In Brief: 

Square will create a new standalone business focused on DeFi. 

It will build a platform for developers to build DeFi projects.

These will focus on Bitcoin. 

What does this mean?

Jack Dorsey announced the move in a tweet, but the new business, called TBD, will be led by Mike Brock who was previously a strategic development lead focusing on cryptocurrency.
