Financial technology platform Plaid has raised $425mn in its Series D funding round.
In Brief:
This is its first funding round since it was supposed to merge with Visa a few months ago.
The round was led by Altimeter Capital and also included Silver Lake Partners and Ribbit Capital.
These three participants were new investors.
What does this mean?
The round also included existing investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, new Enterprise Associates, Spark Capital and Thrive Capital. Plaid CEO Zach Perret said that the firms is still focused on “scaling to meet the increased use of FinTech” and will expand globally. The aim? To create an integrated platform that can be used to build digital financial products.
