OpenPayd appoints new legal and regulatory boss

FinTech Alliance company OpenPayd has appointed a new Group General Counsel.

In Brief:

OpenPayd is a global business offering payments and Banking-as-a-Service solutions.

Richard Given has joined the business as Group General Counsel from Open Banking business 10x Banking.

As part of the executive team, Given will oversee legal and regulatory work to find better ways to implement compliant technology processes.

What does this mean?

It's important that Given has joined the Executive team (bringing 20 years of in-house experience in finance and technology) as OpenPayd seeks to scale in such a highly regulated industry.

As CEO Iana Dimitrova told us, licencing and compliance are a key headache that OpenPayd removes from its customers. “We combine the licenced network as well as technology that’s flexible enough for any business to go and build an innovative proposition,” says Dimitrova. This means organisations can go to market more quickly, as opposed to applying for each licence, and then build the tech themselves. Therefore it’s especially important to get this right and have compliance in a strategic position at executive level.
