Mastercard develops its crypto wallet offering

Mastercard has announced it is creating a simplified payments offering for cryptocurrency holders.

In Brief:

It aims to offer a card that makes it easier to convert cryptocurrency to fiat currency.

It will work with partners including Galilieo, Circle, BitPay and more.

The partners will test the capability and enable more banks to allow customers to spend digital assets.

What does this mean?

Mastercard aims to reduce the friction involved in holding and using cryptocurrency by making it easier to spend more directly from a card. It will enable cryptocurrency companies to offer card programmes, and says this is part of its overall aim to deliver consumer choice when it comes to payments.
