JD.com is going to accept China’s digital yuan for online shopping.

JD will be the first e-commerce platform to accept the digital yuan.

It will involve a lottery in the city of Suzhou to distribute $3mn worth of the digital currency.
What does this mean?
The digital currency will be used to pay online as well as offline in JD’s outlets and for cash on delivery. China is currently developing the new cryptocurrency which will be controlled by the central bank, the People’s Bank of China.
