HSBC is working with UK charities to support homeless people.
In Brief:
-
People without fixed addresses or photo ID will be able to open bank accounts.
-
This has been piloted in Liverpool and sill now be rolled out.
-
Charities involved include Shelter and Crisis.
What does this mean?
A key issue for homeless people in getting back on their feet is the lack of an address or ID to gain a bank account and other public services. HSBC is working with charities to deal with this exclusion, and has caseworkers for those interested in the service.
