Research from Globacap has revealed UK businesses raised £615bn from private funding sources throughout the pandemic.
In Brief:
Venture Capital and Private Equity were the main sources.
Other businesses opted for debt and government-backed financing options.
26% of companies said they privately raised “more than expected” during the Covid crisis.
What does this mean?
According to Globacap, this high volume of VC and other private funding shows UK businesses have a “sustained appetite for private finance over IPOs” and this trend is set to accelerate. Globacap also says that access to new technology offers companies a more straightforward route to private finance. In addition, the government has recently made commitments to improve the public listing environment here in the UK.
