FinTech Connect hosts financial services leaders to discuss the biggest fintech challenges & opportunities in 2019

Four closed-door round-table meetings took place recently, exploring key challenges and opportunities across digital transformation, paytech, regtech & security and blockchain, which will make up the key themes of the FinTech Connect conference and exhibition on 3-4 December 2019.

The 5th edition will be held at ExCeL, London, where 6,000 fintech professionals will meet over two days to discuss and debate the future shape of the financial services industry. 100+ hours of unparalleled industry content will be available to delegates, 200+ technology providers will showcase their innovations and 60+ startups will give live tech demos on site.

Attendees at the FinTech Connect Advisory Board meeting included Oli Harris, Head of Crypto-Assets Strategy & Quorum, JP Morgan; Ewan MacLeod, Chief Digital Officer, Nordea; Ed Adshead-Grant, General Manager, Payments and Cash Management, Bottomline; Iryna Agieieva, Product Owner Payments, Booking.com; and Peter Fokes, COO, Corporate and Investment Banking, Deutsche Bank.

The discussions centered around addressing current challenges throughout the fintech ecosystem, including:

What is the impact of AI on the finance industry and what are the difficulties around its definition and implementation?

How can the industry overcome the challenges of frictionless payments in the wake of Strong Customer Authentication?

How will blockchain go beyond the Wild West?

Beyond the bubble; what now for digital assets?

What is the future role of digital identity and cybersecurity?

• How can we learn from Asian fintech innovation?

With phenomenally good insight from the global forces in fintech, FinTech Connect is set to lead the conversation this December and drive development in financial services. Stephane Malrait, Head of Market Structure and Innovation Financial Markets at ING, commented, ‘It was great to see so many leaders sharing their knowledge in the same location.’ FinTech Connect strives to drive thought-leadership in the industry, rather than just follow; so this meeting presented a fantastic opportunity for to shape the 2019 agenda to reflect the changing needs of the industry.
