Facebook has launched Shops, a new ecommerce platform for retailers.
In Brief:
-
The feature will be launched on Facebook and on Instagram which the company also owns.
-
Businesses can set up a single online store with no fees to sell their products.
-
The function will appear on Facebook business pages, Instagram profiles, and targeted adverts.
What does this mean?
The launch of Shops has been brought forward due to Covid-19. The aim is that Shops will be used by small businesses, especially those that can no longer physically sell their items, allowing them to set up an online store quickly and easily. Facebook says the function will later be rolled out to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
