Big Issue sellers have returned to work this week and will be using contactless card machines.
In Brief:
- There are over 2,000 sellers across England, Wales and Scotland.
- They were withdrawn on 20 March due to lockdown.
- Big Issue has since been available in shops but sellers have been unable to work.
What does this mean?
Contactless is one of the steps taken by The Big Issue Group to ensure customers can buy with confidence. In September 2019, Big Issue partnered with iZettle which made card readers available to vendors at just £9, with lower transaction fees, in order to deal with the impact of an increasingly cashless society. Now, as one of the many expedited processes due to Covid-19, all sellers have gone cashless for the foreseeable.
