As Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos steps down this week, he is succeeded by Andy Jassy.
In Brief:
Jassy was previously CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud infrastructure provider.
Bezos will remain involved as Executive Chairman.
AWS will now be headed up by Adam Selipsky, formerly of Tableau.
What does this mean?
It’s a significant day for Amazon, and Jassy will be tasked with keeping the business on its growth trajectory since Covid has led to a huge rise in ecommerce. As for AWS, which was built up by Jassy, there is huge room for growth with currently less than 5% of global IT spend on the cloud.
