Aviva backs female FinTech founders with $10mn Anthemis investment

Insurance giant Aviva has invested $10mn into a female FinTech fund.

In Brief: 

The Anthemis Female Innovators Lab Fund supports female entrepreneurs in FinTech. 

It offers investment as well as more hands-on support across Europe, Canada and the US. 

Aviva’s investment will focus on UK based FinTech firms founded by women. 

What does this mean? 

Aviva says that the current figure of 4% of UK FinTechs being led by women is not acceptable. “Working with the Fund means more than just a financial contribution, we will have opportunities to partner with, learn from and invest directly in startups where they may benefit Aviva and our customers,” says Chief Innovation Officer Ben Luckett.
