Stripe mulls finding round to significantly increase valuation

US FinTech Stripe is reportedly considering raising funds once again.

In Brief:

  • According to Bloomberg, the new round could push the company’s valuation up to $70bn or $100bn.

  • It’s currently valued at $36bn following its most recent round.

  • This would make it the most valuable venture-backed startup in the US.

What does this mean?

At present this is all speculation based on some “early stage talks”, but the company will have experienced a huge influx in use of the payments services it provides as people turn to digital solutions amid the Covid-19 pandemic. It already raised $600mn in April and has grown to 2,500 staff.
