St. Albans tops Paymentsense list of cashless adoption

Paymentsense has released new figures about the declining use of cash across the UK.

In Brief:

  • St Albans has seen the biggest increase in contactless spending at 19% year on year.

  • This was followed by Halifax, Brighton and Bristol.

  • In London, Apple Pay and Google Pay are more popular than in any other city.

What does this mean?

7.4mn in the UK are already totally cashless, and while the figure has been rising for years it’s been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Find out more about the rise of cashless payments in our webinar.
