Coinbase plans IPO

Coinbase has begun plans to float on the stock market according to Reuters.

 

In Brief:

  • It could happen this year or early next year.

  • It will be the first major US crypto exchange to go public.

  • It has been in talks to hire investment banks and law firms according to sources.

 

What does this mean?

Floating Coinbase Inc on the stock market would be a good indicator that cryptocurrency is becoming more and more mainstream. The SEC has yet to issue specific guidelines on most types of cryptocurrency.
