Pollinate reinvents merchant acquiring for banks

An Audacious Undertaking

The team at Pollinate were determined to create a cutting-edge, bank-grade digital solution that allows banks to reimagine acquiring and value-added services by offering SME merchants a platform which facilitates best-of-breed customer experiences, and they wanted to be able to launch it in a very ambitious timeframe.

To make this a reality, they knew that they needed a development partner who could match their payments expertise and who could scale to get the job done. Having worked previously on a number of successful projects with Endava, Tim Joslyn, Co-Founder and CTO of Pollinate, was confident that together, we could bring their vision to life.

The teams started small, but ramped up to nine full scrum teams within sixteen weeks and were able to go from ideation to production in 12 months.

Cloud by Design

The Pollinate solution is smart, so smart in fact that at its centre is a platform called ‘The Brain’. Built entirely on Azure and using its latest data and AI service offerings, the platform is able to provide a completely revolutionary experience, with innovative merchant and consumers touchpoints supported by the scalable and robust platform.

From the very start, merchants are able to complete an automated onboarding process that can take them from quote to accepting their first transaction in as little as 24 hours.

From there, they have access to a bespoke merchant portal which will help them with reconciliation and understand trends in their business. Future developments will enable merchants to have greater insights into their business through advanced analytics, as well as being able to launch a loyalty scheme and set up product offers directly to consumers.

By combining data from typically disparate systems including consumer preferences, third-party data, basket level data and retail banking data, the platform offers merchants the opportunity to access insight into customer intent in real-time.

A Foundation for Growth

The platform is futureproofed. Thanks to its cloud-first design, it is Open Banking ready, GDPR compliant and secure. The platform also provides a self-serve option to troubleshoot issues or be supported by the five-star rated Endava service desk, one of the top three service desk providers in the world, helping Pollinate provide banks, their merchants and their consumers with excellent service.

The platform is non-invasive and can integrate with any banking system, anywhere in the world. It provides banks to offer a product that truly meets the needs of small merchants by elevating the focus from merely being able to take payments, to looking holistically at the way that they need to manage and grow their businesses.

As Pollinate look to expand internationally, they will continue to partner with Endava, who’s global nearshore model will allow them to support new clients in multiple geographies and time zones. Endava is enabling Pollinate to help banks compete with fintech disruptors and give their merchants the opportunity to build true loyalty with their customers through a modern, cloud-based digital platform.
