Qantas makes deal with Afterpay

Australian airline Qantas will work with Afterpay on its frequent flyer offering.

In Brief:

  • Frequent flyers will be able to use the buy now, pay later platform.

  • They’ll earn points by linking their Afterpay account.

  • Afterpay’s shares rose 2% at the news.

What does this mean?

This is another boost for AfterPay which has seen its popularity increase particularly as more and more consumers are turning to ecommerce. People can now earn Qantas points just by using AfterPay – for Qantas’ part, it’s important to recognise that while customers are not booking flights, it should still support them, and this is a way to remain in the consumer’s mind.
