Accenture FinTech scheme will support women in business

This month, 20 companies were announced at the latest cohort for Accenture’s FinTech Innovation Lab.

In Brief:

  • It can now be revealed that the number of femalefounded businesses has increased by 50% since last year.

  • Accenture has taken steps to address the gender imbalance of previous years.

  • It hopes to help close the gender gap in FinTech.

What does this mean?

A 50% increase is a huge step forward but isn’t quite reflective of the number of UK female founded startups in the UK, which have doubled over the last decade. Accenture wants more women to take part in its lab since they still struggle to get funding and support to develop and scale their business.
