University of Manchester receives £2.5mn FinTech funding

British FinTech Greensill has donated £2.5mn to the University of Manchester.

In Brief:

  • The funding will be used to improve FinTech capability within the region.

  • The University will offer academic posts and scholarships for FinTech research.

  • As part of the investment, Markos Zachariadis has been appointed Professor of Financial Technology and Information Systems at Alliance Manchester Business School.

What does this mean?

The funding will not only support multidisciplinary research for financial technology but will also support student entrepreneurship. The University and in particular its business school hope to support FinTech development in the north of England.
