Lead Product Designer

Are you looking for the challenge and flexibility of a start-up, with the financial stability of an established business? Are you ready to take an exciting product from local to global?

We’re Pollinate - a new fintech business aiming to get banks back to where they belong: at the forefront of the payments industry. As a product-driven payments software business, we’re helping the world’s largest, most complex banks compete with digital challengers.

In Autumn 2019, we worked with NatWest to launch our global merchant acquiring platform in the UK (www.natwest-tyl.com). And we’re just getting started.

If you join us, you’ll be working with experts across payments, technology, consumer and financial services, supported by a world-class network of partners. You’ll be a key part of a team that’s changing the future of payments, with the freedom to make your mark. Together, we’ll be pushing the boundaries of merchant acquiring.

Purpose of the role

We have built the first version of our product for banks and merchants, putting them at the heart of our decision making. We're looking for a strong Lead Product Designer to help us continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. Working closely with the Head of Design, you’ll help define the product experience across our product ecosystem. Partnering with Product Management, Research, and Engineering to make sure we continue to innovate by understanding and solving problems for our clients and customers.

This is a role for an experienced designer, who is as passionate about the visual as the experience and interaction design. You’ll enjoy solving complex design challenges, being an advocate for Design Thinking and validating ideas with data and customer research. You’ll not only be working on our product experience but inspire and elevate the team by producing customer-centric work that is always raising the bar.

Responsibilities

  • Design simple, elegant, data-driven, user-centric experiences that delight users
  • Help shape the product strategy and vision
  • Working within the product team to define our customer’s needs
  • Always researching and bringing forward new findings and learnings
  • Wire-framing and validating your design solutions
  • Identifying success metrics
  • Produce high quality sketches, wireframes and mock-ups at various degrees of fidelity, as necessary throughout the design process
  • Define creative, usable, high quality interactions and experiences
  • Participating in ongoing design reviews and iterations during the sprint
  • Have a strong relationship with the development team, working closely to ensure a seamless implantation
  • Review the performance of each product release, and identify learnings
  • Contributing to and evolving our design system
  • Work with and mentor junior members of the team

What we are looking for

  • Experience in designing world-class complex commercial products
  • An overall product design expert with deep expertise spanning web, desktop, and mobile.
  • A strong advocate for the importance of UCD, Research and testing, lean and agile methodologies
  • To think at a high level about product strategy and clearly articulate design decisions
  • Understand the technical implications in their design decisions
  • A self-starter, who takes ownership of the design process
  • Strong UX focus and understanding of human behaviour
  • Clean visual design sensibility
  • Love to solve problems and be challenged
  • To be a constant learner, and the drive to develop and grow with us.

What we stand for

  • We believe we are better together when we listen, engage and support each other, we want you to bring your expertise and experience to work every day
  • We are passionate about what we are doing and want you to share this with us, enjoy your time with us, stay calm under pressure and bring positive energy to the team
  • We are all on a journey together, we want your ambition and flexible mind set to embrace the twists and turns as we grow as a business

At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, this role will be 100% home based. We are in the process of developing our Future of Work at Pollinate strategy which will include hybrid working.

Pollinate offers great benefits including up to 20% bonus, Pension, Life Assurance, Health Cash Plan, CSOP as well as flexible working hours. When we do, we work in an attractive, modern open plan office in a great City location and have a fruit drop twice per day as well as a weekly Yoga class.
