Product Strategy Manager – Core Payments

We’re Pollinate - a new fintech business aiming to get banks back to where they belong: at the forefront of the payments industry. As a product-driven payments software business, we’re helping the world’s largest, most complex banks compete with digital challengers.

In Autumn 2019, we worked with NatWest to launch our global merchant acquiring platform in the UK (www.natwest-tyl.com). And we’re just getting started.

What will I do?

As Product Strategy Manager for our core payments products, you’ll take strategic responsibility for some of the most important elements of the Pollinate merchant proposition, including self-service onboarding and maintenance, payment capture (on- and offline), settlement and financial reconciliation along with the bank-focused back office portal and aspects such as data provisioning. 

You’ll use internal data, primary and secondary research, conversations with partners, your own experience and the expertise of people across our business to develop a deep knowledge of our markets, current trends and future opportunities, identifying ways to enhance our existing products as well as generate ideas for new products and features. 

You’ll build and continually update our 6-24 months strategic roadmap, incorporating the needs of partner banks in multiple international geographies, along with their merchants. 

You’ll conduct early-stage product exploration and definition on upcoming products, providing commercial, customer, technical and operational considerations, and supporting our delivery team in turning your vision into functional, shippable products. 

And you’ll build deep relationships with our partner banks, supporting the go to market phases of our new products, helping them maximise the benefit they can realise from our platform and contributing to their own strategic development. 

Pollinate is a new business, meaning there is considerable scope to shape our product strategy, and have a significant influence on the development of the Pollinate platform. 

And you’ll be working alongside some super talented people, all of whom have the ambition to build great products which help SMEs thrive.

 

What we are looking for

If you have deep experience in product strategy within fintech or the payments industry – preferably in acquiring we’d love to hear from you. This experience could be in the UK or from another country. 

Our end-users are SME merchants, so experience of this sector and a demonstrable understanding of SME ambitions and challenges is a big benefit. 

This is a highly entrepreneurial role – you won’t always have all the information, resources or time that you might expect or hope for – so you’ll be a great fit if you’re comfortable with uncertainty, (maybe even excited by it!) and passionate about what you do. You might have started your own business in the past, or been part of a startup business at the very early stage. 

You’ll be highly analytical, comfortable conducting and digesting research, be an outstanding communicator and be able to create convincing strategic arguments. The ability to turn complex inputs into clear recommendations is paramount, as is the ability to influence and guide internal stakeholders at all levels. 

This role would suit product managers looking for a more strategic, longer-term challenge, or people from a strategy consulting / strategic partnerships background, looking to translate ideas into tangible products.

At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, this role will be 100% home based. We are in the process of developing a Future of Work at Pollinate strategy which will include hybrid working.
